Nigel Spearing & Robin Jones

Some sad news.

I had a phone call yesterday from Nigel Spearing’s wife, Wendy, to let me know that he died on Sunday morning (8th January). He was 86 and his recent time was spent in a nursing home as he needed special care. Nigel was a great supporter of our reunions and also had huge admiration for Wandsworth School. He attended all 9 of our choir reunions from 1997 to 2010, always turning up on his bike, all the way from Hammersmith, even at aged 80!!

There is going to be a small family only funeral next week and a memorial service is being planned later this year, when obviously any old Wandsworthians would be welcome to attend. Wendy has promised to let me know once the details are finalised.

Some of you may remember Robin Jones, who attended quite a number of our reunions, but he sadly died on Boxing Day. Robin and I were great pals from our first form days back in 1954, along with Ian Cobb, John Lally and Mike Coysh, to name just a few. I will be attending Robin’s funeral on 27th January at Guildford Crematorium.

This is probably an appropriate time to wish you all a happy and healthy 2017.

Kind regards,

Ray Pritchard
