Dave Pollard Memorial Lunch 2014

On Saturday February 8th this year 100 Wandsworthians gathered under the aegis of the Dave Pollard Memorial Lunch (DPML) at Imber Court to enjoy each other’s company and watch the Scotland vs England 6 Nations match live on a big screen. Lunch and wine was provided by the Trustees and a open bar was fully utilised between 13:30 and late……………

Amongst the usual suspects it was particularly pleasurable to see John Pinnock and Vic ‘The Crab’ Lever attend after their respective health challenges. The Trustees announced over £100k has been spent on grants covering further educational needs, sporting requests and at times towards medical needs for children with major challenges. Whilst the finances are in robust health the Trustees appealed for more people to join the £5/month donation scheme, which is bringing in much welcome extra monies, to try and fulfil the ever lengthening list of grant requests. If you haven’t done so yet please download the Mandate and only then will you have a chance to win a cash prize by having your name pulled from a hat as did our first winner, Alan Wilson, who took home £250.

All arrangements went to plan apart from a technical hitch at one point during the game when the coverage went down for several minutes. There was no frustration or complaints, in typical Dubs style led by Tony Davidson and Martin Walpole communal singing broke out which was arguably more entertaining than the match…..but we did break our run of only featuring England losing! (with apologies to any of Celtic persuasion)

We will be announcing a date for the next DPML in the near future.

The Trustees.
